Even though the Enterprise Software market saw a decrease in M&A activity in 2021 when compared to 2020, major players like Oracle and Microsoft were still very active and have continued this activity to start 2022. Microsoft announced its acquisitions of Wayve, a developer of an AI-based driving software system designed to offer autonomous driving, and Activision Blizzard, one of the largest PC video game publishers. With these acquisitions, Microsoft bolsters its autonomous driving investments as well as adds a top market player in the gaming industry to its portfolio.
