The M&A Watch: Eastern Europe – June 2021 Coverage

By Carolina D'Alencon | June 30, 2021

The M&A Watch: Eastern Europe – June 2021 Coverage

Our monthly M&A Watch spotlights deals in the Information Technology industry throughout Eastern Europe.

This month, we highlight 6 deals across Eastern Europe within the IT Services and Software verticals. Notably, there were several strategic and private equity buyers including Unisys and Apax Partners. The global interest in Eastern European IT services and software companies demonstrates a persisting trend from prior months in 2021, and we continue to expect buyers and investors will be intrigued by companies in the region given the high concentration of IT/Software talent, timezone advantage, and agile delivery methods.

Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS), a global IT solutions company, announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Unify Square, the leading experience management provider for secure collaboration and communications platforms, for $152.5 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis. Unify Square is headquartered in Washington and has additional offices in Lithuania, United Kingdom, and Germany. #Lithuania #UnifiedCommunications #UCaaS

The new ownership will enable Infogain to broaden its solution offerings, pursue strategic acquisitions, expand into new geographies, and accelerate the expansion of its employee base. #Poland #MicrosoftAzure

Checkout.com, which works in cloud-based payments solutions, has acquired Icefire, an Estonian software development firm, to capitalize on the continuing popularity of e-commerce. Icefire has experience developing financial services and has worked with companies like Skype, Swedbank, and the Republic of Estonia’s Tax & Customs Board. #Estonia #IAM #KYC

Celsius, the industry-leading cryptocurrency rewards-earning platform, announced the acquisition of a development division of MVP Workshop startup studio, a leader in blockchain product development, based in Belgrade, Serbia. With the acquisition, 50 of MVP Workshop’s engineers and designers will join Celsius and form a Belgrade-based product development center. #Serbia #Blockchain #Fintech

Skyrise.tech, a Poland software development company working with Logistics, Mobility, Healthcare, and Enterprise industries, has been acquired by Etteplan, a growing and developing engineering services company headquartered in Finland. Boozt, a leading technology, and e-commerce company has acquired Estina, a developer of web and e-commerce software.
