M&A WATCH: EASTERN EUROPE – SEPT. 2021 COVERAGE
This month, we highlight 5 deals across Eastern Europe within the IT Services and Software verticals. Deal activity has picked back up, as companies and individuals return from the holiday season throughout the region. Notably, there were several active strategic and private equity buyers including K1 Investment Management and SoftwareONE who were able to get deals across the goal line. Overall, global interest in Eastern European IT services and software companies remains high, and we expect buyers and investors will continue to be intrigued by companies in the region given the high concentration of IT/Software talent, timezone advantage, and agile delivery methods.
SoftwareONE Holding AG, a leading global provider of end-to-end software and cloud technology solutions, acquired HeleCloud, a UK-headquartered, cloud-native Amazon Web Services (AWS) Premier Consulting Partner. With this acquisition, SoftwareONE expands and strengthens its AWS capabilities in the EMEA region, adding a team of skilled AWS experts with significant project delivery and managed service capabilities. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) has completed the acquisition of Zerto, an industry leader in cloud data management and protection at a purchase price of $374 million. This acquisition immediately positions the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform in the high-growth Data Protection market with a proven solution and further propels HPE’s storage business into a cloud-native, software-defined data services business. Generali Growth Equity Fund, a private equity fund established and managed by Generali Investments, closed the acquisition of a 74% stake in Diverto, a cybersecurity company based in Zagreb. Diverto was established in 2007 and protects its clients against security threats that can cause data breaches, financial loss, and damaged credibility and is solely focused on information security. It offers a range of information security services, from consultancy to managed services. K1 Investment Management has acquired a majority stake in translation management software provider (TMS) XTRF. The Poland-based TMS provider was founded in 2010 and operates out of Krakow, Poland. The company offers a client portal, a vendor portal, and workflow, invoicing, and sales management. Software intelligence company Dynatrace (NYSE: DT) has completed the acquisition of high-speed parsing and query analytics company SpectX. This acquisition will accelerate the convergence of observability and security for modern hybrid, multi-cloud environments. These environments are defined by continuous change, with an exponentially expanding volume of observability and security data that must be analyzed in context and in real time to enable autonomous operations.
